Over the weekend we were over in SF doing a yearly celebratory thing. The weather was nice, and some of the locales we were in rather spectacular (ok, the view from the Fairmont, mostly). I only brought my iPhone, no other camera — and took it as an opportunity to play with one of the various panoramic apps out there. DMD Panorama seems well reviewed and not too expensive and was used to make the above shots. Some highlights
- Only works vertically and level (ok, and expected)
- Very quick and simple to use, saving right to the camera roll
- But, unfortunately, really low resolution results so no post-editing or de-skewing is really possible.
- Focus seemed to shift, or hunt a bit, even after the first snap — no apparent way to lock at infinity or anything like with Camera+

The high contrast, the over saturation, the wide dynamic range — all hallmarks of your average point & shoot, but in a phone that you always have with you.
I do like living the future.
